In PE, equity incentive plans are a $550 billion black box - investors don’t have insight to measure the performance plans; companies don’t know how to communicate plans; employees don’t know the worth of their equity or how to make it grow.

SteadyTrail is solving that problem. We are a mission driven company working to bring financial mobility to the American worker, grounded in the pillars of trust, curiosity, resilience, and value. Our first product is a platform for broad-based equity plans - equity programs designed for the 99%, not just the top of the cap table.

We're hiring an engineering leader to own the backbone of our backend and infrastructure and grow with the company. This is a role for someone who identifies as a resourceful, seasoned builder of early-stage products and teams. You’ll guide implementation, make architectural calls, and set the pace. You’ll partner closely with sales and product to scope projects, set realistic timelines, and adapt as priorities shift.

Our codebase is gaining maturity, so is the team. Your job is to take both to the next level.

🎯 What we’re looking for:

• Serious backend chops in JavaScript/TypeScript. AWS-landscape comfort.
• Experience designing scalable systems, managing environments, and keeping data architecture clean under growing pressure.
• Pragmatic about process. Strong on scoping and estimation. Great at explaining what's possible (and what's not) in plain English.
• Confident leading and supporting engineers with varying skill levels—from frontend contributors to contractors across time zones.
• Positive, inclusive, actor-director leadership style. Calm under fire, clear in the fog.

• Fully remote (collaboration hours on US time zones). The team is primarily US based but we will consider exceptional candidates globally
